This antique whitework Mountmellick embroidered tabletop doily is oblong, and measures about 20x22. Extraordinary examples of needle art with French knots, needle weaving, coronation cord embroidery, and whatnot. The wheat sheaves are created with coronation cord, and can be raised from the cloth (see the photo with the screw). The very last photo shows a tiny thread break in the white ground, which is not noticeable unless you look for it. Overall, this old textile is in excellent condition, and worthy of the finest collections.
